Bikes on show..........schools out

Thursday - Today we were asked as a favour from the manager of the warehouse where the bikes were unloaded, to go to his son's local primary school to show the bikes to the kids.
When we arrived the bikes were put on display in the playground and the kids were let out of class to see the bikes. We handed out aussie souvenoirs, (koalas) which went down really well.

London........arrival

Bit of a delay getting started on this page but circumstances beyond our control.
So here is a bit of a run down on the last few days.
Tuesday-We all arrived safely into Heathrow and settled into the Quality Hotel to get over our jetlag for a few days. Some of the group, mainly the women went down to London to sightsee and battle the underground. Some of us chose to relax and recover from our long flight.
Tuesday night we had our first dinner together and a few drinks to kick off the tour. Peter produced a tartan sash with princess written on it (donated from his daughters christmas hat) and announced that this would be the daily "spit the dummy" award for anyone who stuffed up the most that day. Whoever was presented with it would have to wear it for a whole day and if they refused then would have to shout the rest of the group dinner that night. There were a few candidates for this day including Lyndal and Mick for yes, wait for it, filling petrol in their oil tank and oil in their petrol tank. Brett for dropping his bike at the petrol station but Jim scored it for his 6 volt battery that he swore would never let him down. And it did!!!

Well the first contingent should be arriving in London by tomorrow. Hear there's a bit of rain and 20C, but the weather will be sunnier by Wednesday.
The last group will be leaving tomorrow sometime and should arrive in London by Tuesday morning. The excitement and reality is sinking in now. And we can all kick back and relax.........

2 Sleeps to go............

The first contingent of the main group is leaving tomorrow. The rest will be leaving on Monday for the long flight to warm sunny weather, we hope. (Has to be better than winter in Melbourne.)
It's been a long time planning and its all finally coming together thanks to some dedicated members. Jim Parker has been working like a bat out of hell to pull this together for the past two years and I bet he's finally glad to kick back with a bottle of red and have fun fun fun...... At least Jim has a head start on us, he'll be leaving tomorrow. Cheers Jim.
Included is some pics of a few special Injuns that will be on the tour. Phil Pilgrims' one off prototype red Indian Vincent. Phil White's Californian Police bike (Chips) which is renowned for making a grand exit from many runs with his siren. Mick Chegg's 44 Indian Chief (Snail). Micks' bike had a bit of a facelift with some pinstripes, saddle bags and a new comfy pillion seat for his partner Sue. Oh and not to mention a good clean and polish.

3 Sleeps to go.........

The weather in London held out today at 27C but the forecast for Mon, Tues is about 20C. Well, we can't complain about that either, it beats 13C. (I might have to rearrange my bag, only one hair dryer instead of two)
Most of us were lucky to finish up our work today and start winding down with a few cool ones.

4 Sleeps to go..........

Great news from London today. Well for the aussies anyway. It seems the weather is preparing for us. Temperatures reached 30C today!!!! Hopefully it will stay that way til we get there.
The Indians will be sitting there waiting for us, just warming up..... about to come out of hibernation.
And while on the subject of the weather etc., here is something to ponder...........
When told the reason for daylight saving time, an old Indian said........"Only a white man would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket and sew it to the bottom of the blanket and have a longer blanket!!!!!
